前回の記事にも書いたように、2012年のリストからは163枚の追加されているので同様の枚数がリストから姿を消した。

当然だが、様々なアルバムが追加されたのと同時に多くのアルバムがリストからはずされている。一応、削除理由らしいものを個人的な推測で載せてみた。
1つのアーティストで3枚以上のアルバムが外されたものと、複数のアルバムが削除されリストから完全に消えてしまったアーティストに今回は焦点を当ててみる。
まず3枚以上のアルバムがリストから消えたアーティスト。
・The Rolling Stones - 116位 Out Of Our Heads (1965)、180位 The Rolling Stones Now! (1965) 、213位 Tattoo You (1981)、357位 Between The Buttons (1967)の4枚。
・Elton John - 136位 Greatest Hits (1974)、158位 Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975)、458位 Tumbleweed Connection (1970)の3枚。
・Bob Dylan - 174位 Desire (1976)、204位 Modern Times (2006)、410位 Time Out Of Mind (1997)の3枚。
・U2 - 223位 War (1983) 、280位 All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000)、417位 Boy (1980)の3枚。
・The Who - 237位 My Generation (1965)、267位 Quadrophenia (1973) 、384位 A Quick One (Happy Jack) (1966)の3枚。
・Bruce Springsteen - 253位 The River (1980) 、424位 The Rising (2002) 、467位 Tunnel Of Love (1987)の3枚。
・The Smiths - 296位 Meat Is Murder (1985)、369位 Louder Than Bombs (1987) 、473位 The Smiths (1984) の3枚。

これらのアーティストは複数枚はずされてはいるが、まだリストに自分たちのアルバムが残っている。まぁ以前のリストでストーンズやブルース・スプリングスティーンは7枚も8枚も入っていたので、これくらいが妥当なのではないか。もちろん今回外れたアルバムたちは、どれも素晴らしい作品であることには変わりない。
そして次に複数枚外され、リストからその名が消えてしまったアーティスト。
・Mott The Hoople - 370位 Mott (1973)と484位 All The Young Dudes (1972) が削除。
・Jackson Browne - 375位 Late For The Sky (1974)、391位 The Pretender (1976)、450位 For Everyman (1973)の3枚が削除。
・ZZ Top - 398位 Eliminator (1983) と490位 Tres Hombres (1973)が削除。
・Cheap Trick - 426. At Budokan (1978) と443位 In Color (1977) が削除。
Jackson Browneに関してはなんと3枚もはずされ、リストから姿を消した。どれも名盤で、素晴らしいアーティストではあるが...。
ちなみに2003年から2012年の改訂で同様のことが起こったのは、2枚のアルバムが外されリストからその名がなくなったNo Doubtである。
以前、これについての記事があるのでぜひ。
追加されるものもあれば、悲しいことにリストから外されてしまうアルバムもあるということだ。「あぁこのアルバム外されているのか...。」「自分の好きな〇〇が...。」といった程度に受け止めておこう。リストから外されたからと言って、追加されたアルバムより必ずしも音楽的に劣っている、なんてことはまずないのだ。
